Monster Kitchen and Living Room Renovation for Long Island Nurse Victoria | Designed by Drew
Get inspired by this transformative first-floor renovation with a detailed before and after breakdown!
The Drew Barrymore Show surprised Victoria Osei, an exemplary nurse and mother of four in our studio with a brand new kitchen – designed by Drew! Over the course of a month and a half, the Drew Crew worked with a contractor and a number of generous contributors, including BP and Tyson Foods, who helped fund the transformation of Victoria's kitchen and first-floor living area.
Watch to see Victoria's reaction and see below for before and after shots of the beautiful finished product. We hope she enjoys it as much as we were delighted with watching it all come together!
Let's Get Cooking - The Kitchen Renovation!
BEFORE
The kitchen was small with an outdated aesthetic.
Confined spaces made moving around challenging.
The refrigerator was in front of a window, blocking natural light trying to enter the room, and was too close to the countertop.
AFTER
Drew removed the pantry to make one large space including a new beam to support the second floor.
The new floor with the runner-style rug brings texture and warmth in the kitchen. The custom cabinetry from Nieu Cabinet Doors provided the perfect spot to highlight this amazing LG fridge (LG provided all of the lovely kitchen appliances). The open floating shelves give extra storage without it feeling confined.
To Drew, the kitchen is always where the fun is in a home. With the extra seating from the kitchen island, Victoria's family can now entertain their guests while they try out a recipe from Drew's cookbook "Rebel Homemaker."
The new dark color countertops from Stone Tech Fabrication provides a clean, modern element to the space and makes the perfect place to display Beautiful Appliance items like the Air Fryer, Toaster, and Slow Cooker. Cookware and elements like spaghetti, leaves are easy ways to add pop of color in any kitchen.
Using neutral tones for paint from Flower Home, backsplash and large gold hardware, creates a luxurious look that allows the natural light to beam through the window to make this new kitchen shine!
Get It While It's Hot - The Dining Area Renovation!
BEFORE
The dinning room was cluttered with too many appliances. The table was not centered under the light fixture to allow enough space to walk around the table or proper entryway to the living room.
AFTER
Drew continued to use a light paint from Flower Home to brighten up the room in addition with new windows and blinds. The decorative art and plants provide a nice pop of color to compliment the earthy tones in all the rooms. The new open area allows smooth access to any room.
With the table now centered under a brand new light fixture it allows enough seating for eight people. (A perfect place to entertain guest with a yummy dish from Drew's new cookbook!)
Time to Unwind - The Living Room Renovation!
BEFORE
The furniture was outdated, and the couch was too oversized for the room, blocking the entryway to the kitchen and dining room.
Aside from the beautiful natural light coming from a window, the walls were bare.
AFTER
The new open area truly allows this space to feel bigger than it was.
Using a TV on the wall where the couch originally was and framing it with beautiful art on each side complements the symmetry happening on each entryway. And the brand new furniture from Article Furniture placed within the focal point of the TV makes the perfect conversational spot to relax and maybe catch up on new episodes of The Drew Barrymore Show!
